Dr. Nicholas Verwilghen
Nicholas Verwilghen is responsible for developing EIM’s business and expanding the offering for the Group. In addition to developing EIM’s solution efforts he also serves as a member of the Executive Committee and an Advisor to the Group Investment Committee. Dr. Verwilghen holds a PhD in Finance from the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland) and a BS in Economics from the University of Cologne (Germany). Before joining EIM in 2000, he became a principal in a team that managed the start-up of a Private Bank in Zurich offering a multi-manager portfolio approach. Since his debut with EIM Dr. Verwilghen has held various roles on the business side as well as the investment side of the firm. Such roles include Head of Zurich Branch, Head of European Research and Portfolio Management, Head of Client Services and Head of Quantitative Research for the Group. In 2004 he set-up a dedicated team to develop EIM’s quantitative expertise, by focusing on building new portfolio solutions and creating specialized proprietary quantitative tools for the Group. During this time he oversaw the group-wide quantitative research and risk management for both alternative and traditional investments. Dr. Verwilghen has been a frequent speaker for many years on topics such as Alternative Strategies, Asset Allocation and Risk Management at investment conferences worldwide, and has published articles in numerous industry publications.
