Prof. Dr. Ulrike Malmendier is the Cora Jane Flood Professor of Finance at the Haas School of Business and Professor of Economics in the Department of Economics at the University of California, Berkeley.

Her research focuses on the intersection of economics and finance, particularly in the areas of corporate finance, behavioral economics, and behavioral finance. Her work focuses on economic decision-making processes and the factors that lead to systematic errors in decision-making. Malmendier has received numerous awards for her scholarly work, including the 2013 Fisher Black Prize from the American Finance Association and a 2017 Guggenheim Fellowship. She is also a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), and a CESifo Affiliate.

Malmendier earned her Ph.D. in business economics from Harvard University in 2002 and her law degree from the University of Bonn in 2000; she has been on the faculty at UC Berkeley since 2006.
