Frank Dornseifer

Frank Dornseifer is Managing Director of Bundesverband Alternative Investments e.V. (BAI), and responsible for the association's activities in the areas of politics, public relations, law and regulation (including cooperation with associations, members and investors).

He has been active for more than 20 years in various functions in investment management, capital markets and corporate law. He studied law at the universities of Bonn, Dublin (Trinity College) and Lausanne. After admission to the German Bar in 2000 he practiced various years as attorney in an international law firm in the field of corporate and securities law before joining the German Financial Regulator BaFin as deputy head of the policy unit within the investment management department. In this function he also represented BaFin in the Investment Management Committee of IOSCO. Mr. Dornseifer frequently publishes articles both on investment and corporate law and he is co-editor of legal commentaries on the German Investment Act and on the AIFM Directive. The finance committee of the German Bundestag, the EU commission and the European Parliament nominated him several times as expert on capital market law. Mr. Dornseifer frequently gives speeches at national and international conferences on investment and regulatory topics.

Gil Bender

Gil Bender has served as CEO and Managing Director of Value & Risk since 2009 and has more than 25 years of experience in institutional valuation. He regularly supports AIFMs, depositaries, and institutional investors as an external valuer in Germany and Luxembourg.

Henning Brockhaus

Henning Brockhaus is a Partner at Luther and has been advising national and international asset managers, funds, and depositaries for more than 20 years on regulatory and legal matters in investment law, in particular on regulatory and liability issues in connection with valuation and outsourcing.

Frank Müller

Frank Müller advises management companies (Kapitalverwaltungsgesellschaften), institutional investors, asset managers, as well as their regulated and unregulated fund vehicles on regulatory and other legal matters in connection with the launch, structuring, and administration of funds and their acquisitions. In addition, Frank Müller is Managing Partner of McDermott’s Frankfurt office.

He has extensive experience in particular in the following areas:

Dr. Gregor Evenkamp

Gregor Evenkamp is a Partner in the Munich office of Clifford Chance and a member of the firm’s international Investment Funds & Asset Management practice.

His practice focuses on advising on the structuring and distribution of open-ended and closed-ended investment funds for retail and institutional investors. A particular area of focus is on “fund substitute products,” such as fund-linked securities and securitization transactions.

Gregor is a member of Clifford Chance’s Global ESG Board and the Global Tech Group.

He is an author in several leading commentaries on the German Investment Code (KAGB) and an active member of various industry associations.

Dr. Christian Hillebrand

Dr. Christian Hillebrand is an attorney and one of the five founding partners of Orbit, a boutique law firm specialising in investment funds law. He advises managers and fund management teams of domestic and international private equity and venture capital funds on fund structuring and regulatory matters under fund supervisory law. In addition, he advises institutional, public, and private investors on investments in alternative assets, GP- and LP-led secondary transactions, as well as governance, reporting and compliance matters relating to investment funds.

Christian Sotta

Mr. Sotta is a Director in the Tax & Legal – Financial Services Tax practice at PwC in Munich and has been active for around ten years in the tax structuring of capital investments and investment funds. Prior to joining PwC, Mr. Sotta worked at other leading tax advisory and professional services firms as well as law firms. He is a certified tax advisor and holds both a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science from the Otto-Friedrich University of Bamberg.

Francis Kass

Introduction

Francis Kass is a Partner in the Investment Management practice of Arendt & Medernach. He became Head of the Frankfurt office in 2025, focusing on actively engaging with German clients and business partners. In this role, he promotes Arendt’s entire value chain, which encompasses expertise in Luxembourg Legal & Tax, Regulatory & Consulting, and Investor Services.

Francis specialises in regulated and unregulated investment funds and advises clients on the structuring and lifecycle management of alternative investment funds, as well as their respective management entities. He also advises on corporate governance matters related to Luxembourg funds.

• Master’s in Law from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium).

Dr. David Jansen

Dr. David Jansen is a lawyer and partner at the Frankfurt office of the international law firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP. He advises clients across the entire asset management value chain – from asset managers to intermediaries and market infrastructure providers to institutional investors. David Jansen combines deep industry expertise with transactional and regulatory experience, advising clients on complex transactions in the financial sector, including strategic acquisitions and disposals of asset management companies, joint ventures and carve-outs, post-merger integration of regulated platforms, and cross-border licensing and change of control proceedings. In addition, he regularly advises on the structuring of funds and alternative investment products. David Jansen studied and obtained his doctorate at the University of Münster and completed his legal clerkship (Referendariat) in Frankfurt am Main. Before joining Willkie Farr & Gallagher in 2022, he had been working as a lawyer at other leading law firms since 2015.

Uwe Bärenz

Uwe Bärenz has been advising managers and institutional investors in the “Private Investment Funds” practice group for more than 20 years in connection with private equity funds, with a particular focus on tax implications, regulatory requirements, and contractual standards. He is a co-founder of the “Hamburger Fondsgespräche” and serves as a lecturer at the Technical University of Munich.

Lutz Boxberger

Lutz Boxberger, General Counsel and Managing Director, is responsible for the legal and tax structuring of investment products at Golding Capital Partners. He also serves as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the AIFM Golding Capital Partners (Luxembourg) S.A.

Previously, he spent more than ten years in leading law firms specializing in tax and regulatory law, with a focus on fund structuring (Debevoise & Plimpton / SJ Berwin LLP). He advised sponsors of alternative investment funds on tax and regulatory structuring matters, as well as institutional investors on their fund investments.

After completing his training in the senior civil service of the Hessian tax administration as a Diplom-Finanzwirt (FH), Lutz Boxberger studied law at the universities of Mainz and Leicester, UK. He completed his legal clerkship in Wiesbaden, Frankfurt, and New York. He has been admitted to the bar since 2003 and as a certified tax advisor since 2008.

He regularly lectures and publishes on topics related to tax and investment regulatory law and is co-editor of the Beck short commentary on the German Investment Code (KAGB) and the Legal Handbook Private Equity, both published by C.H. Beck.
